Product advantages

Norsorex® APX is a high molecular weight, pure hydrocarbon-based polynorbornene polymer (C₇H₁₀)_x, synthesized from a non-toxic and non-mutagenic monomer (2-norbornene). The dry, non-abrasive powder has a strong affinity to various hydrocarbons and absorbs these by a solidification process using Van der Waals forces. This process depends on the nature of the hydrocarbon, oil/polymer ratio and temperature used.

Environmentally friendly

• Non-toxic, non-mutagenic, non-corrosive, non-hazardous

• Harmless to aquatic fauna and soil, non-biodegradable

• A 100 % green recycle process if used as raw material for e.g. the rubber industry

Cost-efficient

• Highly absorbing: 2-30 times of its weight (e.g. crude oil –10 times)

• Solidifies the liquid oil, allowing an easy and cheap cleanup step

• Low transportation and disposal or incineration costs (no ash residue)

•Non-labor intense

Safe and Easy Use

• Renders hydrocarbons into an inert, firm cohesive solid “rubber-like” mass

• One product for all sorts of hydrocarbons

• Insoluble in water and floating on it (pure polymer as well as solidified mass)

• Complete oil removal (e.g. no oil sheen remains)

• Non-leaching (disposal site pressure of 3.5 bar / 50 psi before leaking)
